Native American - Pottery

Water is life giving and life sustaining in the Plains and the Desert of the Southwest. The vessel has a voice. When it is cracked it dies, can carry no water and no longer has a voice. The cultural identity of the pottery makers vary, but often a "Spirit Line" or escape route is incorporated in the design so as not to imprison the spirits thaat may inhabit the vessel (or weaving.)
